April 6, 2014 - So, Swift Creek Elementary school, among other's I'm guessing, had a "Kite Event Day" out at Cloverhill
Atheletic Complex. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a bit of a drive, as we have never been out to his complex and we weren't quite sure
where it was. Had it mixed up with the sport complex that is very close to our house...then thought maybe it was the high
school, then realized it had to be out somewhere in the open with no power lines and such. LOL - it was a beautiful day
for a drive. But we found it. They had moon bounces and lots of kids out trying to flying kites, many (like ours) for
the first time. Erik had a Power Rangers kite (yes, I know Mom, I swore I'd never succumb to Power Rangers - or
Pokemon..but alas....) and Evan had the "bomb" Angry Bird (that's the black bird that drops bombs on the pigs - if you
don't know Angry Birds just smile and move on).
Erik had alot of success getting his kite up and did a really wonderful job and ran and ran and ran. Evan did a little
kite flying, but was more enthralled by the moon bounces. But he was very good and took turns and would come out when
told and stand in line again. He was such a polite young man. Evan the attendants that had to keep up with kids going
in and coming out (to make sure everyone had a chance to bounce) commented on him running up to the front and then
waiting patiently until she told him he could go in. There's hope for his manners yet!
They both managed to run into friends from school. Evan apparently found Violet and Erik and Benjamin managed to find
each other and they all had a great time. Fun was had by all.
Mom and Dad even managed to come home afterwards and finish spreading 40 bags of mulch. Made me realize, once again,
how childhood is lost on the young.
Yes, we take alot of pictures...can't be helped. So, just some general info regarding all these images.
Erik is in a light green short sleeved (Sonic the Hedgehog) shirt. Evan is in a darker green long sleeved shirt. I tell you this because
some of the pictures might make you wonder "what am I looking at?". Some that seem to not have one of our kids in it...it does - it's just
Erik did manage to get his triangle shaped Power Rangers (sort of yellowish with Red and Blue rangers) with a long red "tail" WAY up in some
of the shots. So Lew tried to capture Erik on the ground and the kite way up. So, it sort of looks like a generic picture of various people.
But they aren't. It's little bitty Erik on the ground and the kite WAY up high. Even one where he is just "lounging" on the ground while
his kite flies.
Oh, and then there's the string tangle. Gotta LOVE those.
