In case you have trouble hearing him, this is his presentation (generally speaking):
I am Thurgood Marshall. I was born on July 2, 1908. My father was the garndson of a slave. When I was just 16, I graduated from high school at the top of my class. My mother sold her wedding ring to pay for my college classes, where I was again, a top student. I became a lawyer, and defended Rosa Parks when she was arrested. I won the case. I was married two times because my first wife died.My understanding is that all the kids did their own research and wrote their own presentations (I suspect they had SOME help) but, like I said, they all did a wonderful job.
At that time, African-American people and white people where not treated equally. The law said that African-Americans had to sit in the back of public buses. They also had to have separte drinking fountains, separate stores, and even separte schools. This is called segregation. I worked hard to end school segregation, and in 1967, I becase the first African-American Supreme Court justice. What an accomplishment for the great-grandson of a slave!
